Athletics

Scorpion Spirit. Lifelong Strength.

Athletics is an integral part of the Sage Ridge experience. Not just a complement to academics, but a powerful extension of it.

Whether it’s a student’s first team or their sixth season, Scorpions compete with heart, act with integrity, and thrive in a close-knit community.

Sage Ridge’s athletics program mirrors our academic mission: excellence is the standard. We emphasize the pursuit of the team, individual excellence, fitness, leadership, and sportsmanship in every sport and every season. Through competition and camaraderie, our athletes build strength not just to win games, but to grow together.

And for serious athletes with next-level goals, our culture of high achievement and whole-child support positions them for success in college athletics.

From fifth graders learning from Middle School teammates to Upper School state championship meets, every athlete is guided by our five pillars: Scholarship, Respect, Integrity, Courage, and Community. These values anchor every practice, every play, and every performance.

Middle School: Growth Through Participation

Middle School athletics offer a welcoming entry into team sports, prioritizing skill-building, confidence, and camaraderie. Interscholastic sports begin in Grade 5, giving students early opportunities to join teams, develop athletic abilities, and contribute to school spirit.

Upper School: Competitive Excellence with Character

Upper School teams challenge students to perform at a high level while growing through competition. Programs emphasize skill mastery, teamwork, and personal responsibility, essential skills for success in college and beyond.

Middle and Upper School students are encouraged to participate—regardless of experience level—and every athlete receives meaningful playing time. Sage Ridge teams help students discover their athletic identity in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Physical Education: Fitness & Wellness

Beyond team sports, every student in grades 1-8 participates in physical education curriculum and wellness programs led by trained faculty. PE is crucial for younger students' physical, mental, and social development, and when taught by professionals on a regular basis, helps build fundamental movement skills, improve physical health, boost cognitive function, and build social-emotional skills. As such, at Sage Ridge, PE courses for grades 1-8 are a regular part of instructional rotation, not an add on or elective. In Upper School, students maintain these development milestones through PE classes, team sports, or independent fitness plans.

Our program fosters:

  • Lifelong fitness habits
  • Teamwork and sportsmanship
  • Goal setting and achievement
  • Injury prevention and healthy routines
