Sage Ridge Scorpions Dominate the Podium at 2025 State Championships for Track & Field and Swimming

Sage Ridge School’s Varsity athletes wrapped up the season with unforgettable performances at the State Championships, building on thier dynamite showing at Regionals. Earning State Champion honors—including a six-time State Champion in Swim—and multiple podium finishes across both Track & Field and Swim, our Scorpions demonstrated the heart, determination, and sportsmanship that define our athletic program.
TRACK & FIELD STATE SUCCESS IN LAS VEGAS
Competing in a range of events, Sage Ridge athletes brought home 13 top-six finishes, including three State titles, a number of silver and bronze medals, and strong results in both individual and relay competitions.
State Champions
- Beatrice Liwanag ‘26 captured 1st place in the 1600M, displaying impressive endurance and pacing.
- Caleb Mulvaney ‘25 soared in the jumping events, securing 1st place in both the High Jump and Long Jump with commanding performances.
Silver Medalists
- Beatrice Liwanag '26 also earned 2nd place in the 800M, showcasing her versatility.
- Andrew Zhang ‘26 sprinted to 2nd in the 200M, closing strong in a tight field.
- Viola Charles ‘28 earned 2nd in Discus, an impressive showing as a freshman.
Bronze Medalists
- Andrew Zhang '26 placed 3rd in the 100M, rounding out an impressive sprinting weekend.
- Caleb Mulvaney ’25 added a 3rd place finish in the triple jump.
- The 4x100 Relay Team of Aiden Charles ‘26, Michael Skaria ‘25, Caleb Mulvaney ‘25, and Andrew Zhang ‘26 delivered a fast and focused performance to earn 3rd place.
- Lauren Sherven ‘26 showed grit and consistency, placing 3rd in both the 800M and 1600M.
Podium Finishes
- Sophie Najjar ‘26 finished 6th in the 100M, a strong sprint showing.
- Viola Charles '28 added a 6th place finish in the 400M.
VARSITY SWIM STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS AT MOANA
The Varsity Swim team made waves at the State Championship meet at Moana Pool on Saturday, May 17, with standout performances from senior Zach Power and sophomore Jensen Wu.
- Following his top performance at Regionals, the SMU Division I swim commit Power took home two State Titles, earning 1st place in both the 100 Butterfly and 500 Freestyle. Power is a six-time State Champion in Varsity Swim.
- Wu added to the Scorpions’ medal haul with a 2nd place finish in the 100 Breaststroke and a 3rd place finish in the 200 Individual Medley.

Andrew Zhang '26 placed 3rd in the 100M, rounding out an impressive sprinting weekend that included 2nd place in the 200m and 3rd place with his 4x100 relay team.
