Alumni

Once A Scorpion, Always a Scorpion: Community of Scholars, Creators & Changemakers

Since opening in 1998 as Reno-Tahoe’s only non-sectarian, independent, college-preparatory school, Sage Ridge has graduated more than 350 alumni who embody our five pillars: Scholarship, Respect, Integrity, Courage, and Community.

Sage Ridge graduates follow diverse and meaningful paths—as scientists, artists, athletes, educators, doctors, writers, entrepreneurs, consultants, lawyers, media professionals, and leaders across countless fields. They leave Sage Ridge with a love of learning, a sense of purpose, and the foundation for lifelong success. And their impact is far-reaching.

“I think the way I come to think of Sage Ridge—and what I’m tremendously grateful to my parents for—is that it’s the best environment for your child and child’s future. I am so aware of the fact that I would not be where I am today without Sage Ridge. It influenced the way I speak, I write, and the way I build relationships with professors. It laid the foundation for so many good things to come.”

“Some of the biggest lessons I learned at Sage Ridge were concerning work ethic and great communication with peers, professors, and mentors. Sage Ridge is the kind of environment that allows you to think levels ahead of where you’re technically at, meaning that yes, you may be a senior in high school, but the work you are given at Sage Ridge, the complexity of the reading materials, the types of things you’re doing in and out of the classroom, all of those things contribute to being able to communicate better when entering college, business or medical school, and career.”

Want to be featured in an alumni spotlight or share a recent milestone?

The workload of college felt a lot easier than what I saw from my friends. I was used to sitting down and studying for a couple of hours, and Sage gave me a big head start. Even though I’m fully STEM, the writing I’ve had to do has been so much easier because of Sage—I can get it done really quickly.”

- Samantha Kenyherz '22, Boston University

Being around such good people helps build you up as a person, and that’s something I got to carry into collegehaving a really good establishment of myself and the people I really want to be around. Also, the friends you make here are friends you’ll carry on with you forever...appreciate what you have here, but also carry on those values with you as you go into college.”
